Homeland Ties was set up to provide Western families with mailed-to-you, authentic Chinese culture boxes so your whole family can build an ongoing connection with China.
Why Chinese Culture Boxes?
Sarah McBride
Homeland Ties was headed up by Sarah*. She lives with her husband Nic and their three daughters (Ayla, born in 2012; Seren, also born in 2012; Hana, born in 2017) in Kunming, Yunnan province in China which they have called home since 2010. Sarah holds an MA in Social Welfare. Her work on US:China Intercountry Adoption was published in the International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy. She is also the China case worker for expats living in Asia for a US adoption agency. Through their work together in China over the last decade, the McBrides have personal and professional knowledge of China pre- and post-adoption processes. Sarah adores her family, loves her job and is a huge fan of coffee.
*unfortunately in Nov. 2021, Sarah’s in-country [China] work permit renewal application was turned down. While this website has stayed live, with prescheduled posts and some stock still available, Sarah won’t be able to produce new material from within China from now on. We’re sad this chapter finished sooner than we anticipated but want to say a HUGE thank you to our Homeland Ties families for the encouragement and connection since we launched.
